On February 14, 2001 a small, scraggly cat came seeking shelter from the storm. She was a bony, frozen, shadow of a cat.

We offered food. She shook uncontrollably and scooped up every morsel with her paw.

Food covered her nose and cheeks. We were appalled at her appearance, just a small wisp of a cat with a huge will to survive. We called her "Valentine."

Valentine doesn't see well, but every morning her big searching eyes follow the shadow of Marilyn's hand as she waves at her through the viewing window.

No matter...Marilyn goes in, scoops her up, and rubs her face in Valentine's soft, soft, fur. How sweet it is to be loved by this lovely little "Valentine."

Our sweet little Valentine crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on October 20, 2002

It takes a lot of people pulling together to make success stories like Valentine's a reality. If our cats are never offered a home, they can live at the shelter for the rest of their lives. They will receive lots of love, and all the care and comfort they need. But we need your help to do this.
